The challenge

SGNIC manages Singapore's .sg top-level domain, national internet infrastructure that simply cannot go dark. Yet it was running on an ageing Sitefinity 8 stack on Windows Server 2012, syncing content through an HTTrack crawler, with known security vulnerabilities, patchy uptime and content being lost in production. For the registry behind every .sg address, that was a standing risk.

A resilient foundation

Construct won the 2020 tender and rebuilt the foundation. We re-architected the site on Azure in an active-passive, load-balanced setup, ran a six-month migration from the legacy Sitefinity 8 to 13, replaced the HTTrack crawler with SiteSync, moved onto a hardened Windows Server 2019 with production locked down, and took over application and infrastructure management end to end.

The engagement hasn't stood still. We have kept Sitefinity current, now on version 14, and designed and deployed a high-availability, active-active architecture, so the registry stays available even while it is being maintained. Most months of scheduled maintenance now pass with zero downtime, on top of the round-the-clock management, monthly security patching and annual third-party penetration testing we run throughout.
